CB Healing Institute:

History:

CB Healing Institute was founded in 2004 and is owned by Gerry and Linda Dunegan.  Linda Dunegan has an extensive background in massage therapy, skin care practice, and behavior health as well as administrative experience from her 21 years of military training.  She is dedicated to the growth and success of CB Healing Institute, faculty, staff, and its learners.

Facility:

CB Healing Institute maintains an eight hundred eighty (880) square foot, state of the art facility, located at 101 East 9th Ave #13B, Anchorage, Alaska. The facility is conveniently located just two blocks from the Anchorage Museum of History and Art.  The school is equipped with massage equipment for student learning and practice. The modern facility houses classrooms, practical clinical and private treatment rooms that allow for the most up to date teaching methods. CB Healing Institute is proud of its small, specialized classes where students can receive personalized instruction.

Handicap Facility:

CB Healing Institute complies with all provisions of the Rehabilitation Act so that no qualified handicapped person will be excluded from enrolling in the school. However, handicapped individuals should be aware that the regulations set by the State of Alaska require a high level of manual dexterity and prolonged periods of practical work in the clinic.

No school can guarantee that credits from courses are transferable.  The transfer of credits is always at the discretion of the receiving school, which depends on the comparability of curriculum and accreditation.

Teaching Philosophy:

CB Healing Institute directs and guides our learners to be exceptional massage therapists in the field.  We mentor students in the same way an apprenticeship program would.  For example, massage students work along with their facilitator so the instructor can lead and coach their every step for a successful massage session with clients.

In order to achieve this great mile stone, we increase physical stamina in each learner with daily exercise.  Consequently, we are teaching our students to be excellent employees as well as great massage therapists in private practice for life.

Extreme care is taken from how we set up the rooms to the products that are used in all appointments. To better prepare our learners for the workplace; we offer a structured and rigorous curriculum.  In the workforce, the prospective businesses thrive on the workers being timely; therefore we stress timeliness in the program.

Our method of developing character as well as polishing etiquette skills remains the center piece of the program to give our learners an edge over the competition.  This type of mentality makes our graduates a priced commodity to any employer.  We want to produce the best of the best in the nation as massage therapists; and yet our graduates can also complete globally in the international arena.

We do this through our guest lectures in the community from acupuncturists, chiropractors, massage therapists, physical therapists, and medical doctors.  The strength of the program is the intensive work with practice and more practice of the different types of massage.  The curriculum and program stand alone as second to none as a result of this teaching method.
