Massage Therapy Program

750 Hours

OBJECTIVE: CB Healing Institute provides a seven hundred fifty (750) Hour Massage Therapy Program designed to meet the various needs of our learners.

This program has a portion of the training delivered through distance education. This enables the students to study at their own pace. Students will obtain distance education course material once they have signed an enrollment contract with CB Healing Institute. Training materials can be picked up in person or sent to the student.

Once a student finishes a section they can return that section to the Administrator for grading. Students have four (4) months from the time they sign their enrollment contract to finish their distance education studies. A student is able to begin their on-site classroom training at any point during their distance education. However, they will need to complete all required distance education coursework by graduation of the on-site classroom training.

This program requires two hundred fifty (250) hours of distance education courses and five hundred (500) hours of on-site training. The distance education needs to be completed in four (4) months and the on-site training will be done in eight (8) weeks. Classes will be in session Monday through Saturday during the eight (8) week period. Hours per week will vary as follows, and may be subject to change: students will be in class for sixty three (63) hours a week for weeks 1 - 7 and for fifty-nine (59) hours in week 8. Regardless of any variations in scheduling, on-site training will equal five hundred (500) total hours.

The entire five hundred (500) hours of on-site training must be completed, and grades of C or better on all sections of distance education must be earned in order for students to successfully complete this course. The program is designed for comprehensive training in Massage Therapy. Grades of C or better on all sections of preliminary work must be earned in order for students to successfully complete this course. Students will receive books, massage DVDs, uniform, and supplies as part of the program.

Distance education course consist of training covering many areas of business management, literature reviews, interviews of massage practitioners in various massage fields, book reports, and journaling.

On-site training consists of various massage techniques and courses. During the students’ on-site experience, CB Healing Institute will address the following: basic anatomy and physiology of the human body, kinesiology, pathology, business, and ethics. The massage techniques are: Full Body Massage, Hot Stone Therapy, Back Treatment, Spa Techniques, Seated Massage, Facial Massage, Pregnant Massage, and Sport Massage.

Students are taught to maintain the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness in caring for the equipment and the environment of massage and beauty therapy establishment. The instructor will be available to teach from 0700-1900 (7 am - 7 pm) Monday through Saturday. Sundays are make-up days from 1300-1800 (1 pm - 6 pm).

A diploma will be awarded upon graduation.

Students must have a high school diploma or equivalent to obtain entry into this program. Successful students of massage therapy will be capable of balancing their academic and practical knowledge, clinical ability, dexterity, sensitivity, and attentiveness. Upon completing this program, students will have obtained intermediate massage skills for employment in a massage therapy clinic, or to work privately as licensed massage therapists.

The course outcomes are composed of the following areas:

  • Comprehend, recognize and explain common ailments and contraindications to massage.

  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate client care.

  • Promote and utilize correct hygiene procedures.

  • Know the traditional massage movements and their physiological and psychological effects.

  • Treat the structures they are working over and understand their function.

  • Assess and explain the possible reactions to treatments from the client.

  • Perform written documentation with data collection techniques including health history, observation and cultivation of skills in written documentation.

  • Expand personal and professional development based on self-assessment, client input in response to massage therapy.
